However, the PVS-14R has additional features that improve upon the PVS-14:

1. Made of 7075 aircraft grade aluminum instead of polymer
2. Fischer remote battery pack port adds the ability to connect an external power source for extended runtime
3. CR123 batteries instead of AA gives additional run-time with the onboard battery and allows for reverse polarity so users can insert the battery in either orientation)
