Gen 1 Night Vision
1st generation is currently the most popular type of night vision in the world. Utilizing the basic principles described in detail in our guide, a 1st generation unit will amplify the existing light several thousand times letting you clearly see in the dark. These units provide a bright and sharp image at a low cost, which is perfect, whether you are boating, observing wildlife, or providing security for your home. You may notice the following when you are looking through a 1st Gen. unit. A slight high-pitched whine when the unit is on. The image you see may be slightly blurry around the edges. This is known as Geometric Distortion. When you turn a 1st Gen. unit off it may glow green for some time. These are inherent characteristics of a 1st Gen. unit and are normal.

For the cost.....
My only personal experience with night vision came when I was in the service in the late 70's. Gen 1 needless to say. So I was greatly impressed by the sharpness and clarity I experienced when I tried my new NV monocular. In very low light (outside) lit by 2 1 lumin lamps and a 1/2 moon, it looked like a well lit stadium. Under almost no light w/just starlight, I was easily able to discern plants, pets and any other objects out as far as 75-100ft. The instructions came with a warning that there might be spots in the field of vision, which is normal, but I did not experience this. A great product overall. Looking forward to my next hike/back pack trip.

Question
Is there a huge difference in quality of view between atn mk350 andFirefield Ff24063 Nightfall 4x50 Night Vision Monocular? I used to have the mk350 and loved it but sold it with my bow. Now I'm in the market for new night vision and could save a few bucks with just getting theFirefield Ff24063 Nightfall 4x50 Night Vision Monocular. Which one would you go with? Any suggestions under 300$
From Drew on Nov 16, 2014
Answer
Hi Drew. FF24063 is a handheld monocular and cannot be used as a scope. If you need a scope for hunting, take a look at Armasight Orion 3x. Our sales team may be able to give you a deal close to your price range on that. Or you can also get the MK350 or MK390. They are all very similar in quality.
Question
What distance does it have
From paul bustamante on Dec 05, 2014
Answer
hi Paul. Firefield FF24063 night vision monocular is an analog gen 1 night vision device and therefore will give you good visibility up to about 60 - 75 yards on an average night. You will see farther out but will be hard to tell details.
Question
I need a reasonable priced no more then 250.00$ monocular night vision that has at least 100 yards
From paul bustamante on Dec 05, 2014
Answer
Hi Paul. There are not any Gen 1 scopes in that price range that will give you good enough quality. Armasight Spark will do the trick but it starts in mid $400. If you cannot afford that, then I would go with FF24063 and hopefully it will do a good enough job for you.
Question
Can this be mounted?? Cheers Tegan
From Tegan on Dec 14, 2014
Answer
Hi Tegan, Nightfall 4x50 is a night vision monocular and is NOT designed to withstand any recoil. We have many options when it comes to Gen 1 riflescopes. How far are your night time targets?
Question
Could this be attached to a head mount?? Cheers tegan
From Tegan on Dec 14, 2014
Answer
Hi Tegan. Magnified night vision monoculars and binocular are almost never made to be mount as it is impossible to walk with them due to loss of depth perception and distance confusion.

Question
How well does this unit do in complete darkness, sight quality and range ?
From Josh on Dec 29, 2015
Answer
Hi Josh. When I consider complete darkness I use a windowless basement as an example. In such a situation, any Gen 1 and even Gen 2 monocular will do very poorly. Nightfall 4x50 night vision monocular is no exception. You will need to activate the IR illuminator to give you the needed ambient light. Once that IR is turned on, you can see out about 50 yards pretty clearly. but again, as this is a Gen 1 device do not expect it to look like daytime.
Question
How do you adjust focus on the Yukon nightfall 4x50. It used to work great but now can't get past blurry. New batteries. Don't remember the focus sequence.
From Jason on Apr 04, 2016
Answer
Hi Jason. It is best to contact Firefield tech support at (817) 225-0310, but if I am not mistaken you turn the viewfinder ring until you find the right position.
Question

From Oli on Jun 28, 2017

Question
Hi! I am looking for an inexpensive ($200 or below) type of night vision goggles or monocular in order to watch wildlife in my back yard. Don't need anything super high tech just the basics and was wondering if the Firefield Yukon Night Fall 4x50 monocular would do the trick? Please advise. Thanks!!! Debbie
From Debbie on Oct 02, 2017
Answer
Hi Debbie. In that price range, you will be able to get devices which cover about 40-70 yards. This night vision monocular is certainly a good option in that price range. Do keep in mind that it has a fixed 4x zoom so it will limit the field of view to degree but will help with bringing things a bit closer.
Question
My Yukon night vision 4X50, Stopped working suddenly after installing new batteries. Any ideas on how to fix them?
From Will Larrain on Aug 23, 2018

hi Will. I doubt you will be able to fix them yourself. Depending on when you purchased the unit, you may be able to get factory service. I suggest calling the manufacturer: (817) 225-0310
