Armasight NYX-14 Gen 3 Alpha night vision monocular with goggle kit
The Armasight Nyx-14 is the new standard by which all compact multi-use monoculars will be judged in future. The Nyx-14 uses optics that are equal to or better than current Military issue night vision units, built into a tough, compact and ergonomic composite housing. We built this body to surpass MIL-SPEC-810 specifications, and so the Armasight Nyx-14 can withstand salt water, rain, high humidity, extremes of temperature and still give unsurpassed levels of performance.
The Nyx-14 mini-monocular is equipped with manual variable gain control so that the image brightness level can be selected by the user to adjust for the ambient light level in his area of operations. The Armasight Nyx-14 is available with a whole array of accessories like – 3, 5 and 8X magnification lenses for mid-long range viewing, head or helmet mounts to allow the unit to be worn as a mono-goggle, various different weapon mounts for tactical or hunting use and high powered additional IR illuminators for long range use. The Nyx-14 is available in Gen 2+ and Gen 3 variants, and is the only night vision device that will meet the challenge of such a high number of tasks and accomplish them all with ease.
Laser Devices DBAL-I2 Dual Beam Red Visible Laser
The DBAL-I² (Dual Beam Aiming Laser – Intelligent) Class 1 IR Laser is the first Mil Spec infrared aiming laser available to the commercial market. Class 1 IR lasers feature a 0.7mW rating which is eye safe and not restricted by the FDA. While this is a lower output than the standard 5mW+ IR lasers used by Warfighters and LE Professionals, it is perfectly adequate for targeting at ranges out to 450 yards. This encompasses most ranges at which users will engage targets during night shooting and training. Functionally, the DBAL-I² Class1 Laser features two output modes: Visible and IR. The IR Laser is 0.7mW while the visible is a full power Class IIIa laser. The DBAL-I² Class1 is available with either a visible red or visible green laser. The IR pointer is low powered to make it eye-safe, but will perform well out to 450 yards. The pointer is easy to spot and has a good divergence/shape. The IR pointer works well with a separate LED IR Illuminator at distances, but will become a bit harder to see at close range due to the splash back from the illuminator on walls. This is especially true with light-colored walls. However, it is still easily visible for targeting. The IR pointer is more easily seen in darker conditions. Just like visible pointers, the Class1 laser will tend to wash out the closer it gets to another light source. The Visible Pointer is available in two versions: Red or Green. These are both standard full-power Class IIIa lasers. Based on LDI’s proven DBAL-I², the Class1 version has very few outward differences. The Class1 DBAL-I² utilizes the same exact body housing and optics package as its full-power brother. Physically, the housing is completely Mil Spec anodized precision machined Aircraft-Grade Aluminum with LDI’s excellent HT Throw Lever Mount. These housings are extremely rugged, currently fighting on the front lines of the Global War on Terror. The Mount is a self-adjusting throw lever that is exceptionally strong and requires no tools to adjust for out of spec rails. The only outward difference between the Class1 and standard models are the power setting markings. The DBAL-I² Class1 has markings for High/Low Visible and IR Pointer that allow for 0.7mW high and .2mW low. In the past, some small-time companies have attempted to build home-made modified IR lasers and sell them on the tactical market. These units did not hold zero and were generally poorly constructed- more suited to toys. Now, for the first time ever, a major government contractor is producing civilian-legal IR lasers in quality Mil Spec housings. Finally, the commercial market has something readily available at affordable prices.

Delivery Time and Manufacturing Process for NYX-14 Gen 3 Alpha Night Vision Monocular with DBAL-I2 Red Laser:
Most of our manufacturers do not keep products like NYX-14 Gen 3 Alpha Night Vision Monocular with DBAL-I2 Red Laser assembled on the shelf. Night Vision tubes are kept separate from the body of the unit. When the order is placed, the manufacturer starts the order processing and assembly process which includes the following:
- Order processing - we collect all the necessary information including address and phone numbers. We also make sure that our customer ordered the correct product for their needs and that the product can be exported by US law to the country of destination. In some cases a signed export compliance form is required.
- QC - in this step the manufacturer will inspect all individual parts which will be used to assemble the night vision device for any defects.
- Production & Assembly - during production, all the parts are put together. Night Vision tubes in inserted into the body of the unit and all the complex electronics for the device are connected. This process takes place in a special lab called the "clean room" as even a small speckle of dust can cause undesired optical effect.
- QA - one the night vision device is assembled, it goes through a rigorous testing process to make sure it meets all the expected specifications and all parts function as expected. For this most manufacturers have a special "dark room" designed to allow testing of the units without causing incidental damage to the night vision tube by exposure to bright light.
- Packaging - this is a key process as well. In most case your night vision device will be shipped to you directly from the manufacturer but sometimes needs to be sent to us first. In either case items need to be packaged securely to avoid any kind of damage during transportation.
- Shipping - as described above items will most of the time ship from the manufacturer. For most domestic orders (unless shipping to POB or AFB) a premium shipper like FedEx or UPS will be used.
Only by following the above steps can we along with our manufacturers bring you - our customer - night vision products of highest quality, However as you can understand the above process can take several days to complete. For example if your device fails QA, the entire process restarts. Also at QC stage a manufacturer may realize that the tube they have in stock has a defect and a replacement tube needs to be ordered. Due to the complexity of this process, it is prudent to expect 3-4 business days for production and handling of the purchased device. Keep in mind that this process is designed to guarantee your satisfaction with the night vision device of your choice. It occasionally possible to expedite the process for urgent orders but addional fees or other restrictions may apply.

Question
Can a night vision goggle be used shooting a shotgun, and pistol? Can i mount a thermal and night vision goggle side by side on a headset?
From Ronnie on Jan 13, 2018
Answer
Hi Ronnie. You can certainly use night vision goggles while shooting a shotgun or pistol. Was your concern about the muzzle flash? In terms of mounting a thermal along with night vision, I am not sure how you envision this working. There are however devices which merge the two capabilities in a single unit. Let us know if that is something of interest.
