The LRS Scout Night Vision Monocular is a third generation night vision device made by N-Vision Optics. It uses Generation 3 technology to create a clear and easy to interpret image, and can be used for anything from long-rang surveillance operations, over night scoping, and even still photograph AND video recording. This is a very versatile device that can be used to capture superb night time images.

This device is designed to be attached to a Nikon or Canon SLR camera for use, adaptors for these two different models are sold separately. The LRS Scout Night Vision Monocular is a lightweight device, designed to be easily handled as part of a setup with an adaptor and an SLR camera as well. It will render images in a high resolution with little to no roll-off or optical distortion. It is weatherproof in general, specifically being designed to withstand rain, dust, and splashes and is considered a rugged piece of equipment. It can also operate for up to 40 hours of real time use. The Scout also utilizes a replaceable 1 inch C Mount lens.

As is standard with Generation 3 devices, the LRS Scout is designed to automatically shut itself off in bright light situations so as to protect the device from light damage to its core; bright light on the lens of a night vision device can be extremely damaging, if there is not a safety shut off to automatically protect it. With the addition of an adaptor and an SLR camera this monocle can be easily converted into an image capturing night vision apparatus, even on the fly. It is durable and easy to carry, and the device is properly housed inside 6061-T6 aluminum.
