Question
How many feet away can you see clearly and will the picture taken at night be clear
From Connie on Aug 24, 2015
Answer
Hi Connie. With 5x magnification digital night vision devices, like the Sightmark Ghost Hunter, you are locked in into a range of about 50- 75 yards. Depending on ambient light you may get more or less visibility. If you have a very specific application in mind, please respond with the details and we will be able to suggest the best night vision device for the purpose.
Question
What is the best scope to use in thick woods where there's no light at night shooting approximately 30 to 40 yards at most thank you
From justin on Oct 11, 2015
Answer
Hi Justin. A lot depends on your budget. When there is very little ambient light, night vision devices don't do very well. So the more powerful of a tube you have the better. At the same time you have the option of using the IR illuminator. If that is acceptable then, you should be able to get away even with a Gen 1 device like Vampire 3X ( http://www.nightvisionguys.com/night-vision-scopes/armasight-vampire-3x-core-iit-night-vision-rifle-scope ). Also, for such a close range you should consider scopes with small magnification. ATN Arrow comes with 2x magnification and if you can afford it would be a good option for your scenario: ( http://www.nightvisionguys.com/night-vision-scopes/atn-night-arrow-2-cgt-night-vision-weapon-sight ). Lastly I would say that thermal riflescopes would give you a much more capability independent of lighting. Naturally those devices are more expensive. For your range you can get away with the basic models but even those would cost you around 2.8-3K. If you let us know your budget we will be able to suggest a specific unit you should consider.
