Steiner T42 Binoculars 10x42

Firefield, a world wide leader in the development and distribution of night vision and sporting optics, stay true to their one simple mission; to produce high quality optics at affordable prices. Their items are lightweight, compact, and quite durable. Extreme care is taken in the construction and design of each optic, and special attention is paid to the art and physics of optical science. This level of quality control ensures that each device is a joy to hold, use, and look through.  Like all Firefield night vision binoculars, the NVB Tracker 3x42 features a compact ergonomic lightweight design. Its rugged shock-proof housing has an soft rubberized exterior for enhanced protection, and a secure grip. Nighttime viewing through binoculars offers a stereoscopic view. The 3x42 optical configuration of this fine NVB is comprised of high quality multicoated glass elements that ensure high resolution and refined light gathering capabilities. The 3x magnification improves your long-range viewing by significantly increasing your range of detection and recognition. Assisting the 1st generation intensifier are a pair of efficient 42mm objective lenses; these lenses increase the total light through-put for a well rendered high-contrast image. For total darkness viewing, there is an integral IR illuminator that will light the way for you to see deep into the surrounding darkness. There are many different variables that affect the distance that one can see with a night vision device, among them the object's size, the level of details being sought from the object and the conditions of observation. Night vision devices detect much further under a full moon and clear skies than they will under a new moon and cloudy skies. Many different formulas are used to determine the statistic of maximum viewing range and the method of calculation varies by manufacturer. The important factors to consider when evaluating any night vision device are the intensifier tube's generation, s/n ratio, level of magnification, specified resolution, along with the clarity & light transmission efficiency of the optical system. All night vision devices sold by us have mechanisms in place to protect the intensifier tube from a sudden burst of bright light, but this does not mean that bright light doesn't damage the device. No matter what, bright light in any form is not good for the longevity and performance of image intensifier tubes.

Gen 1 Night Vision

1st generation is currently the most popular type of night vision in the world. Utilizing the basic principles described in detail in our guide, a 1st generation unit will amplify the existing light several thousand times letting you clearly see in the dark. These units provide a bright and sharp image at a low cost, which is perfect, whether you are boating, observing wildlife, or providing security for your home. You may notice the following when you are looking through a 1st Gen. unit. A slight high-pitched whine when the unit is on. The image you see may be slightly blurry around the edges. This is known as Geometric Distortion. When you turn a 1st Gen. unit off it may glow green for some time. These are inherent characteristics of a 1st Gen. unit and are normal.
