Good so far
This is the first night vision and smart sight I've owned or used before. I haven't field tested it yet, just played around with it in my home so these are my initial impressions. I will try to update this after I get more time behind it. The basic operation of the sight is pretty intuitive and easy to use. The menus are easy to navigate. I updated the firmware right away and that was easy as well. I paired it with the iPhone app and the app is a little buggy. The screen would go blank and it was hard to get it to reconnect to the scope. The colors on the screen are a little off. I was looking at something orange and it came through red. It is easy to record video and take pictures. Mine came with some scratches on the focus ring that were painted over. Overall I think this is a good product but time will tell after I get to properly test it.

Great Product, some fixes needed
First, I want to say that this product is great for it's price point. Yes, there is much better NV out there, but for this price, it cannot be matched. The clarity of day and night is good, until you begin to zoom. It just started getting blotched and blurry. It's nothing that can be fixed. It's just when you zoom in on pixels, they lose clarity. So, for more clarity at longer distances, you may want to spend the extra $100 on the 5-18x. I purchased this product in January and received it last week. It did not come with an instruction manual, but it did come with an instruction guide on the basics. You will need to refer to the manual online at ATN's website. It is not uploaded to their site completely, since many of the features do not work properly yet or aren't available. Also, when you receive the product, you have to update it on a micro-SD card on your computer then transfer that firmware update to your device. Now to the product itself. It is very simple to use. The buttons are very self-explanatory. However, when you zero in your scope, your new zero will not be in the center of the screen. The reticle will be off to the side, depending on how much adjustment you needed. For example, mine is off-center to the left in down. When I zoom in all the way, the reticle goes further left and down to where it isn't on the screen anymore. It's frustrating, but this is going to be a fix in their next firmware update. The next thing is the IR attachment. It works well, but when you need to adjust it up/down or left/right, the allen wrench and screw holes are so tiny and weak. Mine stripped immediately. I will be contacting ATN to get a new one. They should have built it with larger and stronger pieces there. Basically, if it is not replaced, zoom is completely useless at night. My IR only lights up the bottom of the screen, since the wrench adjustment is stripped. The other problem was that my scope did not come with a lens cover. I contacted ATN and they are shipping me one at no charge. Also, if you are in the woods with this product hunting during the day, deer are hard to pick up. When I was out there, I saw deer at about 200 yards in the woods. I could see with my eyes, but looking at the deer in the screen in the scope was difficult. It's clear, but not near as clear as the pictures online show. When I zoomed in on it, it just became a blur. Now I saw some young bucks at 25-75 yards from me with no problem at all, but those longer distances are much harder to pick up. At night, those eyes on animals light up big time. I saw a rabbit at 50 yards and even a hog over 350 yards without much problem. Like I stated earlier, there is better NV out there, but this does the job, especially at this price. Again, with the IR screws stripping, I couldn't really zoom in much on this animals. I had to put the reticle above the animal to get a clear view of the animal at the bottom of the screen, since the IR was only shining at the bottom half. A couple tips, after updating firmware, put micro-SD card back into the computer and delete the update. It's already been installed on your scope, so you don't need it on the card. If you don't delete it, everytime you turn the scope on, it will ask you if you would like to do a firmware update. Next, be very gentle with those IR screws and you may have a chance at not stripping them. Finally, when turning the product off, right when the screen goes blue, let go of the power button, or else the scope will turn back on in a couple seconds, kind of like pressing a reset button. I know I said some bad stuff about the product. It's new, and many features are still not working properly or even available. But, 2 of my friends are ordering one after playing around with it. I do not regret buying it, as I know that firmware updates will correct most of the issues over the next few months. It's a great product that just needs a little bit of tweaking. I would recommend this to anyone who doesn't want to spend thousands of dollars on optics for your rifle. And last, I want to say that nightvisionguys.com has done a great job with my first purchase from them. They were very helpful and wanted to help. They were honest and went out of their way to make sure I was satisfied with my purchase and the delivery of it.

seems pretty good
It is deer season, so it is not easy to find a place to zero this in properly. As such, I will have to update this review when I have had a chance to really field test. Initial observations, the unit appears solid and well built. everything appears to function correctly, however, the fine align allen screws on the IR are insufficient and WELL underbuilt for any reliability. This is one area that a 1/4 inch allen screw would have been a much better choice than a 1/32 screw. The instructions are minimal, it comes with batteries for the IR, but not the 4 AA batteries for the unit, nor the micro SD card needed to install the firmware. This is a cheezy and unprofessional way to register and track sales of the unit. ATN should have installed the firmware when it left the production facility. I would not hesitate to come back to Night Vision Guys for another purchase, but I will think VERY hard before looking at ATN. This unit took very nearly a YEAR to deliver and ATN ignored my email inquiries. NVG, on the other hand, went out of their way to stay in communication the entire time. Good customer service is hard to find-KUDOS NVG's!

Question
What do you recommend for an external Long Range Infrared Illuminator for this scope? I am seeing it states it has detachable IR. How powerful it the one that comes with this scope. Believe me I will be buying this scope from you I just like to do my research first. Thanks for the replies from my last inquiries. Very helpful.
From Kevin Honnoll on Mar 13, 2014
Answer
ATN X-Sight Digital scope come with included IR illuminator. We suggest for you to try using the unit with the provided IR. If you find that not being sufficient for your applications, you can always purchase an additional unit.
Question
I read that these are not in stock as of yet. Please add me to some list to alert me when you will have these in stock to ship. I will be ready to buy in June 2014. I also see that the two models have different warranties. One with one year and the other with two year. Is this a typo?
From Kevin Honnoll on Mar 25, 2014
Answer
We have corrected the warranty information. It is going to be 2 years. As of right now it is still not clear when the units will start shipping. We can certainly add you to a notification list and send you a note when they are available.
Question
This product comes in priced near the Photon, but has more features. I like having the features present but I'm also looking for the scope with the higher quality image for the money. Which of these two scopes are better for <250yd night hunting?
From Tinker on Apr 29, 2014
Answer
Hello, although the X-Sight has more features, both units do have the capability of seeing yards. However, it does depend on the night conditions in which you are hunting. You will receive the best performance when you have moonlight or starlight or any type of ambient light. Both of these units exceed the performance of a Generation 1 and I would have to say its almost a Generation 2 quality scope.
Question
When a pre-order is placed, is my credit card billed at that time or when order is shipped?
From Scott on Aug 06, 2014
Answer
Pre-order requires payment, but order can be cancelled for refund at any time prior to shipping.
Question
do jou 3-12x in stok
From gfw dekker on Aug 29, 2014
Answer
No. As of today August 29 2014, ATN X-Sight Night Vision Scopes are not yet available for shipment. ATN is expecting to have the first batch shipping in 1 - 2 months.
Question
When do you expect to receive the 5-18 version of the X-sight
From Bob Privett on Sep 16, 2014
Answer
As of now, we are being told 2 -3 weeks before ATN get's their first shipment. We certainly can't promise anything until we get the night vision scopes in our hands.
Question
Do you know how much longer it will be until I get this digital scope? I preordered in January.
From Cole on Oct 07, 2014
Answer
Since you were among the first batch of pre-orders for ATN X-Sight Scopes, ATN currently expects to start shipping such orders in early November. They have made significant progress wit the technical issue that was causing the delay. So we are hoping that this estimate is more accurate than previous ones were.
Question
Can the 3x magnifier taken off and use the scope as 1x?
From tony on Oct 14, 2014
Answer
Hi Tony. The answer is probably no. X-Sight Riflescope as most other night vision devices is built in special conditions to prevent dust and other pollutants from entering the lens mechanism. However, since these night vision scopes have not hit the market yet, we can't be 100% sure as we have not seen the final production version.
Question
Will you be able to sight this scoop in as.if it was any other scoop? Is it pretty simple and is it accurate?
From Jonah Stump on Oct 15, 2014
Answer
Yes. ATN X-Sight digital night vision riflescopes work pretty much the same way as regular scopes.
Question
Is there a return policy for this this scope?
From joe on Nov 02, 2014
Answer
All ATN products including X-Sight Digital Riflescope have a no questions asked 30 day return policy provided produt is in original packaging and like new condition. With riflescopes we ask that you do not mount it if you are planning to return it as mounts often get scratched in the process.
Question
Any update on availability and what is the extent of the warranty? Will ATN be responsible for warranty or resolving problems because they havent returned emails so I am concerned about warranty service.
From Rfincher on Nov 12, 2014
Answer
Nothing 100% reliable yet. ATN started shipping some X-Sight riflescope models in limited quantities. We expect to get our portion of the scopes within days. No details on how many or which units will be shipped. In terms of warranty, ATN is certainly responsible and will stand behind their product.
Question
I have seen from other companies selling these scope, that they are receiving shipments. How long before you starting shipping the x sights out? I have had one on order since the end of May.
From Bradley W Ayers on Nov 19, 2014
Answer
Hi Bradley. ATN did start shipping X-Sights. So far only 3-4 companies actually got stock orders (mostly the ones that sell via catalogs). Most others received single units as a consolation prize. We are one of the few that will be getting stock filled from this first batch and our stock shipment is expected to come in this week. We are not yet told the exact number we have been allocated. Once we have the units in hand we will start filling our backorder queue. Hopefully we will know by the middle of next week who made it and who did not. We have had orders in place since January, but there were several cancellations. So you do have a good chance but I can't guarantee anything at this time. Thank you for your continued patience.
Question
Is see you offer a layaway plan as a form of payment, what does that consist of?? If this scope is not in stock, can I utilize the layaway plan and hold one of these scopes when they come in??
From Travis on Nov 19, 2014
Answer
Hi Travis. We do accept a layaway plan. The way that works is that you identify the product of interest. Then you place an order online and pick the pay by check option. You can then proceed to make installment payments by check or money order. Your unit will be shipped once the order is paid in full. Every time we receive a payment from you we will make updates on your order so you can keep track of the remaining balance. We can certainly hold the product for you if you give us a target of when you plan to complete payments. Thank you for shopping with us!
Question
Do you have this scope yet? If not when do you expect them?
From Jeff Hamsher on Nov 28, 2014
Answer
Hi Jeff. We did get a batch and shipped it out to customer who ordered them before July. We expect the next shipment around end of December, early January. Until the backlog is cleared, your best bet is to pre-order one as early as you can and wait for it to arrive. Happy holidays!
Question
Can this scope be programed to take a picture when the trigger is pulled so you can see where the animal is hit? And what will the velocity app.show bullet speed? Cant wait to get my hands on one, WATCH OUT YODIES !!
From Jeff Hamsher on Dec 01, 2014
Answer
Hi Jeff. You can have the scope record while you are tracking and taking the shot but not to turn on at the moment of the shot. Also the velocity refers to the velocity of the shooters movement not the bullet. I hope this helps.
Question
Hello. When do You get this scope in stock. And is it possible too ship it too Denmark?
From René on Dec 02, 2014
Answer
Hi Rene. It is possible to ship to Denmark. We expect to receive the next shipment in early January but we have a back log of orders from July that we have not been able to fill yet. Since we don't know for sure how many units we will receive I cannot guarantee that if you buy now we will be able to ship in January. If you want this scope I suggest you pre-order one as early as possible and wait.
Question
Will this scope work in pitch black areas
From aj on Dec 19, 2014
Answer
In areas where there is no ambient light, like a windowless basement, all night vision devices would need the IR illuminator turned on.
Question
Two questions. 1) I see some of these FAQs are several months old, stating the 3-12x will be shipping in "a couple of months". Are these shipping yet? 2) I am a FFL and gunshop owner, and we are thinking of offering night vision scope options for our customers. Do you have a dealer site, or offer these direct to dealers? If you have programs and pricing for dealers I would be very interested in getting an email from you! Thanks
From Highland Tactical Solutions, LLC on Jan 24, 2015
Answer
Hi. We have a very convenient dealer program. No minimums and very aggressive pricing. Please respond with your phone number and one of our sales guys will get in touch with you to setup an account. As far as X-Sight 3x, they started shipping and then were taken off the market to clean up some production errors. Currently only the 5x model is available and we have it in stock.
Question
When will the ATN X-Sight Digital Night Vision rifle scope 3-12x DGWSXS312A be available for shipping?? THANKS
From Kevin on Feb 03, 2015
Answer
Hi Kevin. It is still unclear. Even the 5x scopes which we had in stock up until today have dried up and we do not have a hard date on when we can expect more.
Question
What wavelength does the IR illuminator project?
From KS on Sep 30, 2015
Answer
Hi KS. ATN does not provide detailed specs for the included IR illuminator. We believe it is around 810nm. Please let us know if you need the exact number and we can certainly contact ATN for the detailed specs.
Question
Is it possible to use a green or red laser sight with this scope?
From Hog Hunter on May 02, 2016
Answer
Hi. Are you asking if the laser might damage this scope? If yes, then you do not need to be concerned. Digital night vision riflescopes are not impacted by bright light and can even be used during the day. Please let us know if you have any further questions.
Question
I am having a hard time getting my night vision to work. It may be something that I am doing incorrectly but I have checked numerous sites and I can't find anything different to try. When I turn my 3-12x on night mode it is very dark and blurry, making it impossible to see anything even as close as 20 yards away. I see many videos where people are getting pretty clear night vision out way past that and so I figure something must be wrong.
From Tony on Jun 21, 2016
Answer
Hi Tony. Are you trying the night mode in total darkness? Can you try to perform this test in early evening to see if things look any better? Have you tried activating the IR illuminator. There could be many factors involved here, so I am just trying to narrow down the issue.
Question
Can i replace the stock IR illuminator with a new one directly onto the scope?
From Connor on Nov 11, 2016
Answer
Hi Connor. ATN X-Sight HD night vision scope comes with a detachable illuminator. So you can replace the one supplied by ATN or augment it with another model. Where you mount the illuminator is of secondary importance. Please let us know if you have any further questions.
Question
Will this night scope work with a invisable IR laser?
From Randy on Feb 24, 2018
Answer
Hi Randy. ATN X-Sight digital riflescopes make use of the same wavelengths as regular night vision scopes. So you should be ok with any IR illuminator. The key is to get the right one for your target range so the right area is illuminated.
Question
I got this fang cat 350 cross bow and am looking for a thermal heat night vision scope or thermal night vision scope.
From Bill on Sep 04, 2018
Answer
Hi Bill. Depending on the budget you have in mind, we can make some suggestions. We currently have special sale on some FLIR thermal scopes which you can find in our special section: https://www.nightvisionguys.com/specials-and-packages . If you prefer night vision, you can certainly go with something like the X-Sight you were looking at.
