Gen 1 Night Vision
1st generation is currently the most popular type of night vision in the world. Utilizing the basic principles described in detail in our guide, a 1st generation unit will amplify the existing light several thousand times letting you clearly see in the dark. These units provide a bright and sharp image at a low cost, which is perfect, whether you are boating, observing wildlife, or providing security for your home. You may notice the following when you are looking through a 1st Gen. unit. A slight high-pitched whine when the unit is on. The image you see may be slightly blurry around the edges. This is known as Geometric Distortion. When you turn a 1st Gen. unit off it may glow green for some time. These are inherent characteristics of a 1st Gen. unit and are normal.

Question
Can this be mounted behind a Vortex Red dot sight on an AR15? Or does it hove its own retical system
From Bill on Dec 27, 2015
Answer
Hi Bill. Firefield 3x42 Gen 1 is a dedicated night vision riflescope and as such does not co-sight with other scopes. To achieve what you are thinking of, you need a night vision monocular which can mount on a weapon. The cheapest one we can offer is Armasight Spark. However, you should note that your red dot sight needs to be night vision compatible otherwise it will damage the night vision monocular. Please get back to us with your contact info if you would like one of our product experts to give you a call and discuss the best setup for your application.
Question
This scope is $340 on Amazon. Can you do better?
From Tom Gilbert on Jan 31, 2016
Answer
Hi Tom. We can do better. What is the best way to contact you to take the order? Would a PayPal invoice be ok?
Question
Can this scope be used during daylight hours
From Aidan harvey on Oct 23, 2016
Answer
Hi Aidan. Firefield 3x42 night vision riflescope is an analog Gen 1 scope and as such cannot be used at daytime. You should consider Sightmark Photon digital night vision scopes which would have that capability.
Question
This is on Amazon for $293....can you guys offer a better deal? Also...I may sound like a dope but is this legit scope and not just optics...Does it offer crosshairs?
From Anthony B on Dec 20, 2017
Answer
Hi Anthony. This is a riflescope so it does come with crosshairs. The bigger question is if this scope will do what you hope it will do. Please let us know what you are planning to mount this on and how far you are planning to shoot so we can make sure you are not wasting your money.
