Gen 1 Night Vision
1st generation is currently the most popular type of night vision in the world. Utilizing the basic principles described in detail in our guide, a 1st generation unit will amplify the existing light several thousand times letting you clearly see in the dark. These units provide a bright and sharp image at a low cost, which is perfect, whether you are boating, observing wildlife, or providing security for your home. You may notice the following when you are looking through a 1st Gen. unit. A slight high-pitched whine when the unit is on. The image you see may be slightly blurry around the edges. This is known as Geometric Distortion. When you turn a 1st Gen. unit off it may glow green for some time. These are inherent characteristics of a 1st Gen. unit and are normal.

Nice product
Helping me save my chickens. So far I have 4 coyotes, 2 raccoons, 2 opossums, and a stray dog. Wouldn't have been possible with out NVG's or a spot light they run on when it hits them. Looking forward to buying more

Just buy it!
I really like this scope. It is good quality. You Get more than you pay for with this scope. You are not going to get generation clarity at this price. What i got, far exceeded my expectations. I can clearly see out to 400 yards under a full moon. You can clearly see in little light or overcast skies to 100 yards. The IR illuminator helps a lot in low light. I use my scope with a 1 million power spotlight with a red filter... make sure the light is off to the side of you by about 10 yards, so you don't get washout from the light, but using this technique 300 yard identification and shots are very possible. it makes it a really long range set up. Though not needed with in 100 yards.

Great product
I really like this product. You can see well through it and the reticle is clear and adjustable. Note: There is a hidden pocket in the front of the fabric bag that is easy to miss. It contains the wrenches and instruction book.

Good entry level night vision but don't expect too much
I think this is a good product at its price point but if you've used later gens this will probably be very disappointing. I've used it to hunt hogs at night and its fine as long as the range is kept short. If you can afford it, spend more on something better. If you can't, this ain't a bad choice.

Question
Hi, I'm having trouble deciding between the ATN Aries MK 390 and the Armasight Orion 4x. Could you reccomend which one has a brighter and higher resolution image? Thank you.
From Robert on Aug 21, 2014
Answer
ATN Mk390 and Armasight Orion 4X are very similar night vision rifle scopes in terms of their build quality and specifications. The choice boils down to which one you like aesthetically and ergonomically.
Question
Was wondering, if you can use a magnification device with the atn Aries MK 390
From Larry on Oct 07, 2014
Answer
If you mean an inline magnifier, no one can stop you from using one, but I doubt that you will have good results. It will also be hard to line such devices up on one rail as ATN Mk390 night vision riflescope is pretty long in its own right. If you need more magnification simply go with ATN Mk410. When it comes to Gen 1 scopes, the resolution is simply not good enough to allow for any more useful magnification.
Question
What is the range of the scope ?
From Justin Higgins on Oct 30, 2014
Answer
hi Justin. Sorry for the late response. ATN Mk390 night vision riflescope will give you usable range of around 75 yards. Depending on the weather and ambient light conditions might be a bit more or a bit less.
Question
They say that direct lite is harmful to nite vision scopes. How does muzzle flash affect it and does it blind your site while looking thru for a second shot?
From Joe on Jan 23, 2015
Answer
Hi Joe. Significant muzzle flash will eventually have negative impact on a night vision scope. It is a good idea to have a suppressor of some sort when using the cheaper night vision scope. but majority of people probably do not.
Question
I have a smith and Wesson ar 15 model m&p 15. will this fit my rail
From Shawn Parker on Feb 16, 2015
Answer
Hi Shawn. As you probably saw, this night vision scope has been discontinued in 2014. We offer a free upgrade to Orion 4x scope which has very similar features but a bit more magnification. This scope should fit your rail without any issues.
Question
I have the gen1 MK390 could I trade it in for a MK450
From Jeff on Apr 05, 2015
Answer
Hi Jeff. We do not do trade-ins unless you purchased from us within 30 days. You can probably sell yours on ebay and use the money to buy an Orion 5X as the MK410 has been discontinued.
Question
I have this scope and I see there is an upgrade available. How much does it cost and where do I need to send my old scope
From john on Nov 18, 2016
Answer
Hi John. I am not sure I understand what you mean by upgrade. If you would like a newer scope we are happy to give you a good price and help with picking the right model.
