An experienced night vision user can tell just by looking at this device, that it is built to a superb quality and with a special regard for the expert tactician or amateur lover of night vision that chooses this device.
Carefully built with the purest grades of heavy glass as well as optical designs that are computer assisted make the lens speed on the ATN MARS incredibly quick. It is the high speed, multi coated lenses - as well as the robust building of the night vision weapon sight - that make the ATN MARS such a powerful tool in the field.
The ATN MARS does not stop with the high quality multi coated glass optics, it also offers precision windage and elevation adjustments because the last thing you want is to be thrown off drastically by winds and other conditions beyond your control. You need the best control over your targeting available, and for that, the ATN MARS is a great choice of night vision sights.
It is also built with a Total Darkness IR system, and absolute must for professionals who need to know that their night vision device won’t let them down in situations where there simply isn’t any light to amplify. The Total Darkness Infra Red system (which has an indicator directly inside the Field of View) will keep you able to see even in conditions where no external light is available. Inside that same Field of View is a low battery indicator, making it easy to no when its time to switch out your battery.
The model that you are currently viewing is the ATN MARS 4x-3, which offers a Generation 3 image intensifier unit with a resolution of 64 lp/mm. It also has 4x magnification, making this a strong choice for anyone who needs some intermediate range targeting. It also has a f/2.0 160 mm lens system.
The ATN MARS ships with an operation manual, a lens tissue, a warranty card, two lithium batteries, IR450-B4, a packing box, a hard case (MIL SPEC), a remote control unit, and a lens cap.

By adding a sensitive chemical, gallium arsenide to the photocathode a brighter and sharper image has been achieved over 2nd generation units. An ion barrier film was also added to increase tube life. 3rd Gen. provides the user with good to excellent low light performance. 3rd Gen. Standard IIT Our standard 3rd generation image intensifier tubes are of the highest quality. They have a micro channel plate, GaAs photocathode, and a completely self-contained integral high-voltage power supply. These 3rd Generation tubes provide a combined increase in resolution, signal to noise and photosensitivity over tubes with a multi-alkali photocathode. Generation 3 is the standard for the USA military.
3rd Gen. Standard IIT Features:
• Photo Cathode type: Gallium Arsenide
• Resolution 64 lp/mm
• Signal-to-Noise Ratio 22 Typical

Delivery Time and Manufacturing Process for ATN MARS4x-3 Night Vision Weapon Scope:
Most of our manufacturers do not keep products like ATN MARS4x-3 Night Vision Weapon Scope assembled on the shelf. Night Vision tubes are kept separate from the body of the unit. When the order is placed, the manufacturer starts the order processing and assembly process which includes the following:
- Order processing - we collect all the necessary information including address and phone numbers. We also make sure that our customer ordered the correct product for their needs and that the product can be exported by US law to the country of destination. In some cases a signed export compliance form is required.
- QC - in this step the manufacturer will inspect all individual parts which will be used to assemble the night vision device for any defects.
- Production & Assembly - during production, all the parts are put together. Night Vision tubes in inserted into the body of the unit and all the complex electronics for the device are connected. This process takes place in a special lab called the "clean room" as even a small speckle of dust can cause undesired optical effect.
- QA - one the night vision device is assembled, it goes through a rigorous testing process to make sure it meets all the expected specifications and all parts function as expected. For this most manufacturers have a special "dark room" designed to allow testing of the units without causing incidental damage to the night vision tube by exposure to bright light.
- Packaging - this is a key process as well. In most case your night vision device will be shipped to you directly from the manufacturer but sometimes needs to be sent to us first. In either case items need to be packaged securely to avoid any kind of damage during transportation.
- Shipping - as described above items will most of the time ship from the manufacturer. For most domestic orders (unless shipping to POB or AFB) a premium shipper like FedEx or UPS will be used.
Only by following the above steps can we along with our manufacturers bring you - our customer - night vision products of highest quality, However as you can understand the above process can take several days to complete. For example if your device fails QA, the entire process restarts. Also at QC stage a manufacturer may realize that the tube they have in stock has a defect and a replacement tube needs to be ordered. Due to the complexity of this process, it is prudent to expect 3-4 business days for production and handling of the purchased device. Keep in mind that this process is designed to guarantee your satisfaction with the night vision device of your choice. It occasionally possible to expedite the process for urgent orders but addional fees or other restrictions may apply.

ATN MARS 4 GEN 3
Mars is much improved over the Trident -Pro. This includes a choice of reticle color(amber/red), choice of battery(AA/lithium), click adjustment focusing the objective lense. large hex-head screws for base mounting, on/off switch with a stand-by mode. I had problems with the ITAR requirements, but the Optics Planet Reps were really helpful and that problem resolved quickly. The photocathode tube died after about 3 hours of use. I contacted ATN and it was repaired and returned in about 12 days. Zeroing was difficult in that the elevation and windage adjustments initially did not seem to translate to the crosshairs. Eventually the scope did zero and seems to be holding for my .308. I have an ATN Trident-Pro 4 Gen 2+ CGT that I have used for about 100 hours and have fired about 200 rounds at ranges from about 200-250 yards in clear star-light conditions and does require IR to illuminate shadowed areas in the field. The ATN MARS 4 Gen3 can acquire targets at 250-300 yards under similar conditions and can detect movement and observe shapes at 400-500 yards and doesn't require IR to see into shadowed areas in the field. The weight of the scope, base and rifle (DPMS .308LR) comes in under 11 pounds which is good for off-hand shots but it's easier to use in conjuction with a NV monicle for observation until a target is acquired. All-in-All night hunting with NV is WAY different the day hunting and takes adjustment and practice. I'm satisfied with ATN and Optics Planet products and service and will recommend and buy other ATN products (via Optics Planet)in the future with the proviso that newcomers to the NV world need to research this subject carefully and understand fully the various generations of NV devices, as well as manufacturers and purposes of the various devices. Pros: much improved over the Trident-Pro 4x cgt Cons: tube died after3 hours use, some difficulty in zeroing, 4 pin connector for the remote switch, needed washers to attach the quick release mount to the scope

Fabulous clarity in extreme dark
Best ever! fabulous clarity in extreme dark conditions. a friend of mine had a different brand that he spent $2000 more on. It still did not compete with my ATN. I have purchased a total of three of these this year. Have not been able to find a fault with it yet. Keep up the good work...
