preliminary update on the ATN X
Just a preliminary update on the ATN X - Site 5-18s scope. Being new to a scope like this I was not sure what to expect. First the Night Vision Guys are great, keeping me up to date on the delivery status of this scope and it was delivered exactly when promised. The scope was a little heaver that I thought it would be but seems very well made. Pros: I was able to start using it right away by using the brief instruction booklet that came with it. The firmware upgrade was quite easy and took only a few minutes. An SD card is needed. Cons: The manual was lacking and I had to go to the ATN WEB site to download page by page the rest of the manual. This WEB Site manual was quite informative and help me figure out all the features of the scope. Pros: With the proper instructions the menu driven options were quite easy to figure out. Quality of the device is very good. Initial image quality seem seems good as well as the ability to zoom in and out. I really need to take it to the range to comment on the sighting in feature and comment on how accurate the scope is. I only tried the night vision for a short period of time but the quality seems good. I really like the ability to have both black and white and green functions in night vision mode. Can't wait to see what future sights ATN will offer. Haven't tried recording and Wifi features yet. So fare I am very pleased with my purchase. Very pleased with the Night Vision Guys.

Question
Is ATN still on schedule for 5 X 18 X-Sight, release by July 31?
From Kevin Honnoll on Jul 28, 2014
Answer
No. ATN is still behind on the X-Sight line. We are currently getting a September target. There are thousands of units on back-order.
Question
Is the ATN X-Sight 5-18X Smart HD Digital Night Vision Riflescope available for purchase ?
From John on Sep 03, 2014
Answer
ATN X-Sight line is available for pre-order only. As of today, 9/3/2014, they are expected to start shipping by mid October 2014.
Question
What's the latest on shipping for the X-Sight?
From Rich on Sep 16, 2014
Answer
As of yesterday ATN was giving us a target of 2-3 weeks for first batch of X-Sight scope to start shipping. We will keep you posted.
Question
When will this item be available?
From Duane Shortt on Oct 08, 2014
Answer
As of start of October 2014, ATN expects 3-4 months for delivery on new orders of X-Sight digital scopes. Some existing orders will be filled earlier.
Question
ATN is still saying mid October to begin shipping the 5X X-Sight. I ordered in mid June. What should I expect time wise to have my scope shipped. I am sorry about the delayed delivery dates beyond your control. But I need to make a decision either keep waiting or change my order.
From Kevin Honnoll on Oct 10, 2014
Answer
Hi Kevin. It is hard to say. We are expecting the first batch to ship mid october to early November. But this will preorders which were placed in January and February. There aee thousands of units on backorder at this time. For a June order I would guess December or early January. But again, it is just a guess.
Question
I heard yesterday (10-27-15) that atn was shipping the first x-sights????????????????have you heard anthing
From james beverly on Oct 28, 2014
Answer
There is certainly no hard target yet. They are guiding for mid to end November. The big question is how many X-Sight Scopes they will have available in this first batch. With thousands on backorder, they are likely to give at least partial fulfillment to largest distributors so we hope to have a good chunk of our X-Sight orders filled from the first batch. Keeping our fingers crossed. Would be a nice gift for Thanksgiving.
Question
Have you got ANY X-SIGHTS from atn yet????Or any updates
From james on Nov 10, 2014
Answer
We are being promised the first shipment of X-Sight scopes this week. Hopefully they deliver on the promise. It is not yet clear how many of each variation they will supply.
Question
Any units shipping as of yet? I just placed an order but now wondering what a realistic eta is?
From Don on Nov 20, 2014
Answer
Hi Don. We actually got an update today on the X-Sight scopes. Our first batch is arriving before the end of the week. We will be shipping out orders of those who ordered prior to August over the weekend. The next batch of X-Sight digital scopes is expected around end of December. If you just placed your order now, the ETA based on the current information is early January.
Question
Shipping update as of 8 DEC?
From Willie on Dec 08, 2014
Answer
Hi Willie. As of December 8th, we are being told by ATN that we may get a shipment within a week or two. This shipment should cover our entire backlog. If they deliver we will make sure people get their scopes before Christmas.
Question
What is the effective distance at night?
From Jerry on Dec 14, 2014
Answer
Hi Jerry. It depends on how large of a target you are working with. For a hog, I would say 100 - 130 yards is realistic on most nights. In a really dark environment you may do a bit worse.
Question
Ok. Now which scope is better all around this one or the Sightmark Photon XT 6.5x50L Digital Night Vision Riflescope SM18007? Thanks, Jerry
From Jerry on Dec 15, 2014
Answer
This is a very hard question to answer as Sightmark has not started shipping the Photon XT 6.5X yet. However, we expect these units to be very similar in capabilities.
Question
What is expected delivery time now
From Andrew on Dec 15, 2014
Answer
Hi Andrew. We are being promised a shipment by the end of this week. Still unclear how many units and when exactly we will get them. If we are lucky, may be able to fill all orders by Christmas, but no guarantees as all is in the hands of ATN.
Question
Between this scope and the Sightmark Photon XT 6.5x50L Digital Night Vision Riflescope SM18007 which one would be better overall for 150+ yards.
From Jerry on Dec 16, 2014
Answer
Hi Jerry. The Photons XT 6.5x50L have not started shipping yet. So we are not yet sure of their performance.
Question
Is finance available
From LB Pennington on Dec 23, 2014
Answer
Hi LB. You have a few options for installment payments. First is a no interest layaway plan where you make payments until you pay off the unit and then we ship it to you. Second is PayPal Credit. This is done by picking PayPal in checkout and then selecting PayPal Credit on subsequent screens. PayPal will evaluate your credit history and offer you terms based on that. Finally we offer Affirm option which is a financing company. You pick Affirm at checkout and will be transferred to their site to apply for credit. Once approved they will offer you to pay in 3, 6 9 or 12 equal payments with interest being determined based on your credit score. Please let us know if you have any other questions.

Question

Answer
Hi Cheryl. Yes, digital night vision riflescopes can be used both day and night.
Question
Hey guys what will the scope have a built-in IR or will I have to purchase a detachable IR ? "Built-in IR: detachable"
From Brent on Jan 20, 2015
Answer
hi Brent. The scope comes with an IR. If you need one you can always order an additional one later.
Question
What GEN is this scope?
From Josh on Feb 04, 2015
Answer
Hi Josh. This is a digital night vision scope. Digital night vision does not use tubes so there are no generations. It works on sensors similar to the night vision mode of Sony camcorders. In terms of capabilities I would say it falls in between Gen 1 and Gen 2.
Question
With this scope, does using digital zoom affect the zero? Can I zero at lowest power or highest power, and still expect accuracy through all digital zoom levels?
From Jonathan on Feb 23, 2015
Answer
Hi Jonathan. Yes, that is the idea. Digital night vision scopes are built in such a way that zooming will preserve zero. Otherwise the zooming feature becomes useless. Please let us know if you have any further questions about ATN X-Sight 5x or any other night vision scope.
Question
Ok, I'm sure you are tired of this question, but are the x-sights reality yet!
From Terry McCafferty on Feb 24, 2015
Answer
Hi Terry. They have been a reality for some time. The issue is in the issues that this reality comes with. The original firmware on these digital night vision scopes was not as good as it should have been. Therefore a lot of customer were having issues. We are holding off on shipping any units until the new firmware comes out. We are expecting that to be in 2-3 weeks. Otherwise both 3x and 5x X-sight scopes are available.
Question
What Gen night vision is this optic?
From corey on Feb 24, 2015
Answer
hi Corey. ATN X-Sight digital night vision scopes do not use night vision tubes. Instead they uses sensors and therefore are not rated by night vision tube generation. In terms of capabilities, I would say they fall between Gen 1 and Gen 2 night vision scopes.
Question
So are there any differences between the 3x and 5x besides the magnification? Also what is being changed on the 3x currently and when will new ones be available?
From Gunnar on Feb 25, 2015
Answer
Hi Gunnar. There used to be differences between the two models of ATN X-Sight digital night vision scope where the 3X did not have a focusing ring and some other minor items. The new ones I believe have similar built as the 5X just with smaller magnification. Both models are available currently, but we refuse to ship them because the firmware on them has yet to be updated. The new firmware for the X-Sight models is expected within next 3 weeks. Once it is available, we can start shipping scopes with the latest patch in place. Otherwise we were receiving too many complaint about the software.
Question
I ordered the 5x at gander mountain on 3/02 when should i expect to receive my scope
From butch on Mar 06, 2015
Answer
Hi Butch. All I can tell you is that you made a double mistake by ordering ATN X-Sight 5X from there instead of Night Vision Guys. Firstly, you will most likely get an outdated firmware unit if you get one at all. Secondly you probably overpaid compared to the deal you could have gotten by speaking to our sales team. If I was you, I would cancel your order with Gander before it is too late and place it with us. Let us know if you have any further questions.
Question
Hi my friend! I am Luca Form sicily ( Italy) I want ask you if we can chose fedex internatinal priority ! I like that in 2/3 days i can receive ! Regards luca
From Luca Profeta on Jun 09, 2015
Answer
Hi Luca. If you are purchasing a night vision device which is exportable to your country, you can certainly choose Fedex shipping. Please let us now if you have any other questions.
Question
Not familiar with the digital type night vision rifle scope. I thought I read something about this unit having infrared removable. Looking at the picture's of this scope I couldn't see an infrared attachment like you see mounted on the side of other night vision scopes. And would like to know as for hunting, what is the difference in a digital night vision scope as opposed to a regular night vision rifle scope? Thanks. I'm currently planning on purchasing a night vision scope to hunt hog's on my place, but curious about the difference of a digital, compared to a regular night vision scope.
From Bobby on Jun 15, 2015
Answer
Hi Bobby. Digital night vision technology uses the same concept as the night time mode in a camcorder. Instead of having a special intensifier tube, these units use digital sensors. As a result, ATN X-Sight scopes can be used both day and night. Also as a result the image you see in the viewfinder is digitized (like looking at an lcd of a camera). In terms of night time performance, digital night vision riflescope like the X-Sight fall in between Gen 1 and Gen 2 specs. The only Gen 1 scope that is comparable is the Armasight Vampire. As you noted, this scope has a detachable IR illuminator. If your target range for night time hunting is under 120-150 yards, then you should be ok with this scope but will certainly need to have the IR on to get those longer distances.
Question
Is a IR Illuminator included in the ATN X 5X18
From John Burg on Aug 10, 2015
Answer
Hi John. Yes, ATN X-Sight Digital Riflescopes ship with a detachable IR illuminator. Some of our customers add an additional illuminator for extended range. But we recommend trying out the included package first as most customer are satisfied with the provided equipment. Please let us know if you have any further questions.
Question
dear night guys, i am interested in an atn x-sight scope. i have been monitoring customer reviews for a while now and it seems they have finally gotten the bugs out of the software is this the case? is this scope a good beginner scope as i have never had one. ie would you recommend it over any other. the price seems excellent and very affordable. however in most cases you get what you pay for. what accessories do you recommend. lastly what is the effective sight distance, battery life and any other info you can give me based on your field testing. would you buy this scope for yourself why or why not? thanks for your time john
From john on Oct 01, 2015
Answer
Hi John. The ATN X-Sight night vision riflescope has come a long way. Most of the issues have been resolved. We have not been getting as many complaints as we used to. In terms of capabilities, you can expect around 100-150 yards depending on ambient light and IR illuminator being used. This is the same for competitor sights. The closest competitor to this sight is the Sightmark Photon line. Those scopes seem to be a bit more reliable historically, but don't have as many bells and whistles as the X-Sight. So the choice is really about needing those extra features. In Gen 1 price range the only other scope I would suggest looking at is the Armasight Vampire 3x. That scope is not digital unlike the X-Sights and the Photons. But it is very well built and has great image quality for a Gen 1 scope. I hope this help somewhat. Please let us know if you have further specific questions about any of these riflescope models or other devices.
Question
Is the ATN X-Sight 5x18 weather and Shock proof? Have any of the suggested upgrades been made in regards to the IR light mount? How does the scope guard against damage from muzzle flash?
From Troy on Oct 08, 2015
Answer
hi Troy. Since this is a digital night vision device, muzzle flash is not a threat. Weather and shock proofing levels are relative. The scope is weather proof and shock proof. However if you need the actual rating, we need to contact ATN for that information. Please let us know if you need this. ATN made several upgrades and most of them were in the software. I am not certain about the IR mount. Once again we would need to call ATN in the morning to get the answers. Please let us know what other things you would like to know about X-Sight night vision scope so we ask all the questions in one shot.
Question
Has anyone used the scope and found out if it's good or not? Seems a bit on the low end of the price scale for night vision. Any reviews from people using it in the field?
From Kellen on Nov 04, 2015
Answer
Hi Kellen. ATN X-Sight is a digital night vision scope. As such it delivers results which are better than a standard Gen 1 scope but not as good as a Gen 2 scope. That explains the price range. However, this scope has a lot of history. Initially announced almost two years ago, ATN took a really long time to actually bring it to the market. The first version had a lot of bugs. However, the current version has been tested by many users and is very popular. There is a Facebook group dedicated to this scope and currently has a couple of thousand proud owners posting their success stories. With all the features this scope has, it is certainly a very good value for hunting within 120-150 yard range. Please let us know if you need any further information.
Question
If I place an order today for an ATN x sight scope what's the ETA or when will it be shipped to me?
From Dan on Feb 20, 2016
Answer
Hi Dan. The old X-Sights are now discontinued. The new model is expected to be available around April.
